The vaccination exercise in India will be completed by this year end. In a virtual press conference today (May 28), the Union Minister Prakash Javadekar made this announcement.

“Vaccination exercise in India to be complete by December. The Health Ministry gave a roadmap for producing 216 crore doses by then,” said Javadekar, adding “India is the second country conducting the fastest and largest vaccination drive worldwide.”

This announcement came after Rahul Gandhi, the opposition leader of Congress, lashed out at the central government on COVID19 management in the country. He criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and held him responsible for the second wave and deaths suggesting that vaccines were the only permanent solution to COVID.

Responding to Gandhi’s statement, Javadekar said this is an ‘insult’ to the country and its citizens.

Over 2.9 million vaccine doses were administered in the country yesterday taking the cumulative count of vaccination to 205 million.
