BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali tests positive for COVID19 after attending Lok Sabha’s ongoing Winter Session

Lok Sabha MP Kunwar Danish Ali, who attended the ongoing Winter Session of the Parliament yesterday, on December 20, has tested positive for COVID19 and is experiencing ‘mild symptoms’. 

Ali, a leader from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) who represents Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha constituency further stated on Twitter that he had received both the doses of COVID19 vaccine.

“Despite being fully vaccinated, today, I tested positive for #COVID19. Yesterday, I attended Parliament also. I request all those who came in my contact to get tested and isolate themselves. I am having mild symptoms and hope to recover soon,” the legislator posted on Twitter.

So far, the country has recorded 5,326 new Covid-19 cases and 453 deaths in the last 24 hours till Tuesday 8. Active cases number is 79,097.

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry informed today, on December 21, that the total number of cases of infection from the Omicron variant of COVID19 is 200 so far. Maharashtra and Delhi have reported more than half of the total Omicron cases with both the states reporting 54 Omicron cases each.

In the wake of the rising Omicron cases in the national capital, Delhi government yesterday announced that it will conduct a genome test of all  COVID19 cases. Earlier, only samples of travellers from abroad were being sent for genome sequencing.

India reported 5,326 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the total caseload in the country since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,4752,164.
