India Rivers Forum invites nominations to award river conservationists

India Rivers Forum, a consortium of 10 organisations working for environment protection, is inviting nominations to award the unsung heroes whose efforts have resulted in the conservation of the rivers. Details here.

As part of its annual event titled India Rivers Week 2022, the India Rivers Forum is inviting nominations for two awards – the Bhagirath Prayaas Samman (BPS) and Shri Anupam Mishra Memorial Medal (AMM) to celebrate the contributions of activists whose work has led to the conservation of rivers in India.

India Rivers Forum, which is a Dehradun-based network of 10 organisations working for environment conservation, stated in its official press statement that these are ‘possibly the only awards in India that celebrate and honour river conservation work’.

“BPS aims to recognise the unsung heroes, both individuals and groups (organisations, community groups, campaigns) for their outstanding and sustained efforts towards protection and conservation of rivers,” the press statement mentioned.

Meanwhile, informing about the other award, the organisation stated, “Shri Anupam Mishra Memorial Medal, instituted in 2017 in memory of Late Shri Anupam Mishra ji, aims to celebrate and honour journalists and media professionals who have established an exceptional body of credible work on various aspects of rivers leading to changes in behaviour, public discourse, law and policy”.

If you know groups or individuals who you think deserve these awards, please nominate them and help the organisation identify these unsung heroes. Forms are available on our website at these links: www.indiariversforum.org/BPS2022 and www.indiariversforum.org/AMM2022. Last date to send in the completed nomination forms is 30th September 2022.
