PM Modi praises UP’s honey maker Nimit Singh in Mann Ki Baat radio show

Nimit Singh is a Gorakhpur-based honey maker who preferred honey production rather than pursuing a career in engineering despite holding a B.Tech degree. Today, he is successfully leading his enterprise and providing employment opportunities to workers at his honey making unit. Details here.

In his monthly address to the nation through Mann Ki Baat radio programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Nimit Singh — a young entrepreneur from Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district who is successfully leading an enterprise which produces honey.

“Today, there are so many opportunities in honey production that even the youth who have received professional education are taking up honey making as a start up. Nimit Singh from Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur is one such individual,” the prime minister said.

“He is a B.Tech by training and has not only taken up honey production but has also set up a quality testing laboratory in Lucknow. He is earning well from his enterprise and also trains farmers in other states to take up honey making,” PM Modi added.

In 2016, Singh started honey production with 50 boxes and used to sell his products at various locations in Lucknow.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath thanked the Prime Minister for taking note of Singh’s achievements and mentioning him in the Mann Ki Baat radio show.

“Respected Prime Minister today in his @mannkibaat (programme) has praised the perseverance (‘lagansheeltaa’) of Nimit Singh from Gorakhpur, working in the field of honey and wax production. Nimit’s efforts will motivate innumerable youth for self-employment and job creation. Thank you Prime Minister!” Adityanath stated on Twitter.

While talking to Gaon Connection, Singh informed that it was his father who suggested him to pursue honey making. “I studied engineering, but wanted nothing to do with a nine to five job. What I wanted was the excitement of starting my own enterprise from scratch. My father who is an army veteran told me about beekeepers he had seen at work when he was posted in Punjab, and I was hooked,” Nimit recalled.

The honey produced in Nimit Singh’s apiary in the Barabanki district is available at https://www.slowbazaar.com/ with an option for the buyers to choose various flavours.
