Explained: PM Modi inaugurates Purvanchal Expressway — its key features, objectives

In a major boost to connectivity in Uttar Pradesh’s eastern region, Prime Minister Modi yesterday inaugurated the Purvanchal Expressway. It is expected to promote trade, usher in development and attract investment in the region. More details here.

Three years after Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Purvanchal Expressway in 2018, the six-lane expressway was inaugurated today, on November 16. The ambitious project stretches through nine districts and covers a distance of 341 kilometres.

“Uttar Pradesh will now transform under the BJP as the previous governments only cared about their family’s wealth,” PM Modi said while addressing the crowd at the inauguration event in Karwal Kheri in Sultanpur district.

The Purvanchal Expressway will reduce the travel duration from Lucknow to Ghazipur by half and allow a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour. Earlier it took almost seven hours to travel the same distance and now the same can be covered in 3.5 hours.
