Lauding the efforts to vaccinate every citizen against the COVID-19 infection, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandviya stated today, on May 24 that 80 per cent of the adolescents aged 15 years to 18 years have received the first dose of the vaccines. In numbers, as many as 592 million first doses of the vaccines have been administered to people aged 15-18.
Also, the COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years which commenced on March 16 has so far recorded the administration of more than 300 million doses of the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines.
“Young India is taking the world’s largest vaccination drive to new heights! Over 80 per cent of youngsters between the 15-18 age group have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine,” Mandaviya tweeted.

Meanwhile, India reported 1,675 new COVID-19 cases today, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 43,140,068, while the active cases rose to 14,841, according to the dashboard launched by the Union Health Ministry. The number of COVID-19 related deaths reached 524,490 with 31 more people dying due to the virus today.
The active cases comprise 0.03 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent, the ministry informed.
