Understand how consolidation happens and why consolidation is important.

In rural areas, as the family grows, the agricultural land gets divided. In such a situation, after a time, ancestral lands like fields and gardens remain divided into small pieces. Due to this, farmers have to face difficulties in farming on small pieces of land. Not only this, after a long time, complaints regarding disputes related to farm boundaries, encroachment on government land etc. increase in villages, due to which the government conducts consolidation. The process of consolidation started for the convenience of farmers is very important, but farmers have very little knowledge about this process or some influential people at the village level think it is better to keep the common people away from this process. If farmers continuously keep an eye on the consolidation process and keep taking information, then consolidation can be convenient for them.

If farmers continuously keep an eye on the consolidation process and keep taking information, then consolidation can be convenient for them. When did consolidation begin? In Uttar Pradesh, the consolidation plan was started in the year 1954 from Kairana tehsil of Muzaffarnagar district and Musafirkhana tehsil of Sultanpur district. After successful testing, the consolidation scheme was implemented in the entire state from the year 1958. For the Consolidation Scheme, Consolidation Department was formed under the Consolidation Director/Commissioner. What is the process of consolidation? Under Section 4(1), 4(2) of the Land Consolidation Act, the state government issues advertisements for consolidation of villages. After this, the Consolidation Commissioner issues a notification to start the consolidation process under Section 4A (1), 4A (2).

After the notification of consolidation is issued in the villages, the revenue court cases of that village become ineffective. During this period, without the permission of the Consolidation Settlement Officer, no Khatedar (farmer) can use his land except for agricultural purposes.
