Haryana announces night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am; to come into effect from tonight

No person shall leave their homes or shall move on foot or by vehicle or travel or stand or roam around on any road or public places during the above said hours, reads the order.

Haryana has joined the list of states in India that have imposed night curfew in order to control the spread of COVID-19. In its order dated April 12, Haryana State Disaster Management Authority has said that “there shall be prohibition on movement individuals for non essential activities between 09:00 PM to 05:00 AM… No person shall leave their homes or shall move on foot or by vehicle or travel or stand or roam around on any road or public places during the above said hours.”

This order comes into effect  from today, April 12, and shall remain in force till further orders, reads the circular.

A number of state governments have imposed night curfew and partial lockdown to control the spread of coronavirus. These include, Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttarakhand. Maharastra government has also imposed a weekend lockdown and there are discussion on the state being put under a complete lockdown, as it is worst affected due to the pandemic.

Meanwhile, yesterday India registered 168,912 new corona cases in 24 hours and surpassed Brazil to become the second-most affected country by the coronavirus.

Yesterday, April 11, the Indian government banned the export of antiviral drug Remdesivir and its active pharmaceutical ingredients. This decision came as demand rocketed amid rising COVID-19 infections back home, leading to a crippling shortage in many parts of the country. As of today, over 64.7 million doses have been exported to 83 countries.
