Today, on December 12, a Gaon Connection report won the award for ‘English Web Investigative story’ category of the third edition of South Asia Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity.
The report titled Accused out on bail for 8 years; tareekh-pe-tareekh for the minor victims’ family in Budaun gangrape-murder case was previously awarded in the national edition of the Laadli Awards on October 21. In the South Asia event which was held today, the report was shortlisted from more than 800 entries from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Maldives.
The report on the two families of the victims of gangrape-murder in the rural pockets of Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun was reported by Shivani Gupta and Abhishesk Verma as the cameraperson.

The Laadli media awards are an initiative of Population First, a Mumbai-based social impact organisation in close collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund.
