In the wake of the COVID19 pandemic, the class 12 board examinations for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) have been cancelled for this year.
“In view of uncertain conditions due to COVID & feedback obtained from stakeholders, it has been decided that Class 12 Board Exams would not be held this year. CBSE to take steps to compile results of Class 12 students as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner,” the official statement was quoted as stating.

The decision was announced by the central government almost an hour after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual meeting with Union Ministers.
The Ministry of Education had recently sought suggestions from the states and union territories on the decision to call off or suspend the examinations.
For CBSE students who wish to appear for the examinations nevertheless, it is reported that such an would be provided to them by thew board, as and when the situation becomes conducive.
Education Minister Ramesh Pohkriyal couldn’t attend the virtual meet as he was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi Ttoday uesday morning after he was reported to have developed post-COVID complications.
The education of the students in the rural areas in the country was severely compromised as they could find little benefit from the introduction of online classes. These students suffered due to their inability to afford devices to access education and poor data connectivity also played a role in impeding their learning.
