In the wake of rising COVID cases, the central government today (July 2) has deputed teams to six states to expedite containment measures.
As per media reports, teams have been sent to Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Manipur, that have reported a surge in COVID19 cases. These teams will monitor the overall implementation of COVID-19 management. This will include testing, surveillance and containment operations, availability of hospital beds, sufficient logistics including ambulances, ventilators, medical oxygen, and the vaccination progress. The central teams will assess the situation and also suggest remedial actions to the respective state governments.
According to the data available on covid19india.org (an independent network of volunteers collecting COVID data), daily coronavirus cases in Chhattisgarh in the past one week have increased from 293 on June 25 to 410 on July 1.
Similarly, for Odisha, the daily COVID cases have increased from 2,912 on June 25 to 3,087 on July 1 while in Kerala, daily COVID cases have increased from 11,546 to 12,868.
