There is good news for those wanting to set up a food processing business in Uttar Pradesh. The Department of Horticulture and Food Processing has launched several programmes to train people in food processing and help them set up business.
“In order to enhance employment opportunities in food processing, the department has come up with several schemes and workshops,” RK Tomar, director, Department of Horticulture and Food Processing, Uttar Pradesh, told Gaon Connection.
Workshops will include training in processing fruits and vegetables, baking, and confectionary making, milk processing, oil production, making masalas, seafood processing, etc.
“There will be three-day training capsules of a total of twenty five hours, after which the trainees will be helped financially to set up their enterprise,” Tomar explained.
The initiative was launched under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises. The training programmes will be organised at selected state level technical institutes and other departmental institutions.
Those who successfully complete the training programmes will be helped to prepare detailed project reports and set up food processing enterprises. They will also be given 35 per cent or up to one million rupees grant to start their business.
