Govt launches service to block SIM cards registered with your Aadhaar number — check here

The users can avail the information of the numbers registered in their name by entering their mobile phone number followed by submitting an one-time password (OTP).

In a bid to debar the phone numbers unlawfully registered on your identification credentials, the Department of Telecommunications has launched an online portal. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched a portal — tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in which can be used to know if someone has registered a SIM on your number without you being aware of it.

“In view of increasing incidents of unauthorised use of one’s details by others for taking mobile SIM cards and misusing them for illegal or unlawful purposes, the department has come up with this online tool to help people get rid of numbers which they are not actually using,” Andhra Pradesh region’s Deputy Director General of DoT, A. Robert Ravi was quoted.

The users can avail the information of the numbers registered in their name by entering their mobile phone number followed by submitting an one-time password (OTP). The portal mentions that ‘currently this facility is available only to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Consumers’ but attempts made by Gaon Connection to access the portal were successful despite having accessed the portal outside the specified geography.
